Note: The Trim Tag, or "Body and Style Number Plate" as the service manual calls it, is located under the hood on the drivers side of the firewall under the wiper transmission. The plate shows: 1. Year and Style Number of Body 2. Body Number 3. Trim Number 4. Paint number (Color Specification Number)
A four digit number, called the car series and body style number, will idenitify any car as to series and style. Reading from left to right, the digits represent the following: First and second digits: Series designation Third and fourth digits: Body style.
Example: The number 3519 identifies a car as a Super 88, 4 Door Sedan. "35" designates a Super 88, and 19 is a 4 Door (Celebrity) Sedan.
1960 Model Designations
All Fisher Body numbers have a two-letter prefix that indicates the plant at which the body was assembled:
Fiesta Wagon bodies were made by the Ionia Manufacturing Division of the Mitchell-Bentley Corporation, and had a similar plate to the Fisher plate shown above.
Color Codes
NOTE: Three letter combinations are used to identify two-tone color combinations: 1. Lower Body Color Letter-hood, fenders, deck lid, and body below the belt line 2. Upper Body Color Letter-Roof panel only. 3. Wheel Color Letter-Wheel color.
Trim Numbers: Note: Moroceen is the the term Oldsmobile used for it's vinyl material.
